Mounjaro

Mounjaro can be prescribed to those with a BMI above 30 or to those with a BMI of 27-30 with at least one additional weight-related comorbidity, such as
 

• High blood pressure
• Obstructive sleep apnoea
• Osteoarthritis
• Type 2 Diabetes
• High cholesterol

Extensive studies and published work shows that Mounjaro is the most effective medication for weight loss as compared to other GLP-1 weight loss medications such as Wegovy or Ozempic.

Just like Ozempic and Wegovy, Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection and each pack contains one pre-filled pen.

Each Mounjaro pen has 4 doses and thus lasts 4 weeks.

The pen would either contain 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg, or 15mg.

Mounjaro should be taken on the same day each week at any time of the day, with or without meals.

To mitigate the risks of side effects, The Symn Clinic will begin your treatment on the lowest effective dose and continue on that policy for as long as the dose is effective.

This depends on how much weight you either want to lose, or what your ideal BMI is to be a healthy weight.

Like every medication, Mounjaro can have side effects, yet they remain rare, nausea, the most common side effect present in only 13-20% of patients.

Side effects are dose dependent, so will be more common on the day of administration and will wean away each hour if no medication is taken. By starting all our patients on the lowest dose and through our bespoke loading regimen, we will negate the risks of any side effects.

These side effects and their intensity differ from person to person. The most common of which include:

• Feeling sick (nausea)
• Diarrhoea
• Being sick (vomiting)
• Constipation
• Indigestion
• Stomach (abdominal) pain
