Week 1: I started the pen on Sunday night, woke up feeling the same overall, no side effects which is great. I went to have breakfast and remembered that I should not eat unless I was hungry. Made a coffee and went to work.
Lunchtime, having not eaten I was worried I’d get hungry, agitated and tired by lunchtime, the opposite has been the case. No hunger and no tiredness. I had a small portion of a salad and that was enough for me. I keep reminding myself to drink water. I feel fine.
Dinner: I had a soup for dinner, barey finished it. Realised I have not snacked at all today, makes a change. Haven’t had the cravings, my dentist will be so happy, or sad! Not sure which one.
Day 7: Weight lost: 2 kg
Again, feel fine, I was worried I’d be tired from the reduced eating but It’s been the opposite, I feel more energised. I tried to avoid weighing myself but that result has motivated me.
Week 2: Weight Lost: 5kg
I am more mindful of my meals and have started to map out them out to make sure I am having a balanced diet. I found myself not including salads for a week so need to make sure when I do eat, it’s the right foods.
Weight loss has started to show, two friends have commented so that’s nice.
Week 3: Weight lost: 7kg.
Happy with my progress. Spoke to Sam, everything looked fine and I ordered my second months’ supply. My target weight loss is 17kg, that’s my graduation weight and it’s under 25 on the BMI scale. I had to go to the back of the cupboard and pull out some trousers I hadn’t worm for a while which is another nice feeling.
Week 4: Weight lost: 9kg.
I’ve decided I won’t weigh myself weekly and keep to every 2 weeks. Despite not eating as much I still find the energy to exercise and feel better. I’ve started to sleep earlier, as Dr Sam mentioned, when you start to notice progress so quickly you start to look at other aspects of a healthier lifestyle like sleep routine and diet.
Overall:
I thought I would be off food and that’s the way Ozempic works but it’s the opposite. I just don’t get hungry and eat when my body needs me to. The other concern I had was energy levels, my job is taxing and if anything, I feel more energised.
The first month has been really great. The weight loss and the overall change has been fantastic. I have tried to get fitter and healthier a few times and just didn’t have the discipline for it in hindsight. My target now is to reach the 17kg weight loss in 3 months and then hopefully keep all the good habits with no need for the pen. Dr Sam has said I can always come back to it for a short course in the future if I need to.
